Getahun Garedew Wodaje

Director General of the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority

Dr. Getahun Garedew Wodaje is the Director General of the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority (EEPA) of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, as of December 2021. Dr. Wodaje has a PhD in Environmental Sciences from UNISA University in South Africa, and an MSc in Environmental Sciences from Addis Ababa University. Prior to his appointment, he was the State Minister of the Ministry of Education from June 2020 to November 2021. With the Rank of the Vice-President, he had also led the Regional Education Bureau of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region for two years. He has also served in different capacities at Wolaita Sodo University, including as Assistant Professor, Academic Dean, Academic Programs Officer and Department Head for Natural Resources Management from 2009 to 2016. Furthermore, he has worked as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals as well as published more than five articles in peer reviewed journals.
